Ounce for ounce I am hard pressed to find a better chopper than my 1246. I love this knife but it needed to to be tweaked to fit my style. The 1246 is hollow ground and that made for a very thin edge and tip. I have bent the tip before. My first mod was to thicken up the edge and tip. I ground back the whole edge by 1/64th to get it thicker. Did a 20° convexed edge. I also put on a 90° spine. The guard was just in my way so I ground them down to my liking. I also put a slight choil on it. The small bump in the choil is intentional. It fits behind my index finger knuckle perfectly. Also did a vinegar patina for contrast. First pics are when I first got the 1246 and its been a work in progress all i need now is a custom kydex sheath made for it.

Look like a great knife to bring outdoors, I like your edge!
And the guard looks like it was meant to be like this from the start, nice work!
