Nope, brother, those things have been out of production for about 4yrs now. And most of my searches come up with nothing.

You can try the exchange here, on BFC.

There is a new Kukri out that has the same handle, and there is the new Warthog that came out last year, but other than that, I think the hunt must continue.

why aren't you interested in the 1278 warthog? I've got a couple and love em.

I do like the new design as well but just think the combination of the blade shape and F/U style handle design .of the original 1247 was just a cool design. Nothin against the tooj handles. I still plan on buying the heavy duty warthog very soon.

The handle, and about an inch of blade length.

And a better sheath. Wish the 1278 came with the original sheath type.

i like me some old warthog... probably will never get one.

the new ones are not too shabby. keep mine in the car for ... all purposes :)

I bought one when I was 15 or 16. It was just too cool not to get. I've hardly used it though. Every now and then I use it for some menial task but mostly it just collects dust. And before you ask, it's not for sale.

I think it would be wicked cool it they did a 3/4 version. And a Becker version would be one bad mofo.

I have the new version. It works excellent. I have batoned with it. No issues. REALLY like the new handle design better. With no upper handguard, you can choke up for smaller work & use your thumb on top for more control. I like the sheath too.

Kabarcamper,

We stopped 1247 production because the blade shape caused all sorts of problems at the factory. The short, wide blade had a tendency to warp (cup as opposed to bend) and as a result, the grinds were hard to keep even and symetrical.
Since we also wanted to redesign the knife to add things that the customers wanted, we decided to discontinue and then reintroduce the newer version (1278).
I agree with you; the old warthog, even with some issues, was a great, practical knife. We still get a lot of calls from people who want them.
Hope this helps.

tweeeeeener :)

by which i mean, a mini-warthog?

Two of my three K-Bars, the old camp knife and the 1247 Warthog, have been discontinued. I don't have the replacements and I'm sure they are fine but the discontinued models just look more robust. They have certainly served me well.
