Hey fellas, I recently added a 125OT to my growing collection. The question I have is that mine has a lanyard hole in the butt, like 123OT.
All the other 125's I have looked at dont have a lanyard hole.

Is this a variation, lunch box special, or a goofy question? lol

Actually a good question. The 125OT did not have a lanyard hole, but the 25OT 2 blader did. The 225OT with a saw blade did not either. The Uncle Henry versions, the 123UH, 127UH and 227UH all had lanyard holes. Probably not a whole lot of reasoning as to why.

I would surprised if no one came up with exceptions to my findings.

I guess the above posts got some looking at their collection, myself also, I have four 125OT's and two do have the lanyard holes.

my first ebay Schrade is a 125OT, with lanyard hole and v. nice custom handles with initials JWG, from a Texas auction house. in reasearching that knife, i learned that these knives had lanyard holes in 1971 and 1976 to 1991. which means mine could have been owned by John Wayne Gacey. roland

No hole here. For reference, mine is out of a Sharp idea box, making it a later one.

I'll add that someone could be pretty busy researching this topic fully.

Robert Clements' notes on the 125OT
C. Catalog History Notes:
1. No information prior to 1964, 25OT (2 blade) offered
2. In 1968 the 127OUH in catalog @ $10
3. In 1972 it first apeared in catalog as an Old Timer
4. Prior to 1964, the predecessory knife was the 225,
225-ST, or the 225H (two blade hunters), these knives were still being offered after the 125OT was introduced in 1972
5. In 1972 the handle material description was “Genuine Saw Cut Staglon”
6. In 1972 there was a hole in the butt bolster for lanyard, no hole appeared from 1974 to 1975, hole again from 1976 to 1991, from 1992 to 1997 no hole
7. In 1974, named Mustang Lock Blade Folding Hunter
8. In 1979, name changed to Mustang Lockblade
9. In 1983, name changed to Lockblade Mustang
10. In 1987, name changed back to Mustang Lockblade

Got a 125ot that I bought new @88'-89' it has the hole, carry it to the elk & deer woods shaving sharp.

Looks like Larry pretty much covered it, lol.. Now if I can find a sheath for mine like thawk's !

I have a 25 OT with a lanyard hole and one without. I have noticed that the ones without the hole are able to furnish blades a little longer. And the brass liners are drilled or punched or cast with a hole in them whether they are to be used or not.I also have a 225H with a secondary blade which is serrated and a primary blade which is etched "BOWIE FOLDING HUNTER". It has the Schrade-Walden stamp. I have another 225H with a shackle through the lanyard hole and which is just stamped Schrade USA (no Walden). The 225H knives pre-date the 25 OT knives, but are basically the same, except the scales are faux jigged bone. They ran concurrent with the Old Timer version for several years.

Interesting Tongueriver. I've noticed looking in the old catalogs the those "BOWIE FOLDING HUNTER" knives in jigged delrin came with and without lanyard holes as well. Some of them had a cool sabre ground blade too.

A lot of us would sure like to see some of those old catalog pages. The wholesale price lists on the Schrade Collectors site are great, but they leave out a lot. We don't see very many pictures on this forum, and they also seem to disappear after awhile (?). I would especially like to see the differences among some of the old (pre 49'ers series) fixed blade knives.
