The 1266 sure looks BK5ish... Looks close to the BK5 that looks like it could be a good big critter cutting blade. I only got BK5 I put my Dogwood Fire Fly scales on so they don't get lost when cutting up the bigger critters in the field. A good stand alone use knife is always nice to have knife wise.
Any one more experted to tell the differences between the 1266 and the BK 5 in general (Besides the full tang vs rat tail tang and such). The kraton handle and hilt would be good in the field for cutting big critters and such for an extra guard vs Fatigue and such. (also for critter cutting season at dad's farm).

Note: The idea is to use for stand alone and with other knives if they are around.

I'm going to be looking up the 1266 soon, idk what it is???

The BK5 is my favorite Becker.......
If I Have to buy this other one too, I'll let you know if I'm mad at You?
Haha

Ok..... I Do know that model. 1266

It's Very elegant.

I plan on buying one, and putting on a brass or copper guard, and leather washer handle.

*once I catch up on my other knife projects

Almost made a new post a few months ago, but idk if there was any interest here....

LOVE the BK5....
My modded version is Often carried.

In turn inspired my Own design, which focused on perfecting the handle....
I named/coined the handle style as......"Always".
It's Always comfortable, no matter how you hold it. In Any configuration. 😁

I guess I vaguely see some BK-5ishness in the 1266, but nothing really specific. And in fact if I compare them detail for detail, they really don't match at all. BUT please don't let me dissuade you from getting one. :)

The BK-5 is one of my fav's. That and the BK-16 are the only ones I have two copies of.
