Kinda odd he asked the question, but didn't say why he wanted to know... If you look on the bay, some people obviously think they are precious.

Some folks think the older clips had a better finish on them and want them for that. Other folks want the older clips to replace a clip on an older knife to keep it "authentic." If a collector is willing to pay for an older "vintage" clip, then the market will bear that out.
 
Oddly enough, the spare parts business includes clips for those who're willing to pay. I've, more than once, bought beaters for the original parts. We do what we have to do, right?:rolleyes:

I should have said, some sellers think they are precious. Referring to the price I have seen some asking for them
