Recently I posted a pic of a rehandled Mk1.Since then I have been asked "how to do it".
So in the spirit of sharing,I will post pics as I go along of my 'ol 1281 project.

I remove the pin by drilling from the opposite side and pushing the pin out.

More to come....

Bits and pieces for the new handle.
I cheated a bit with the guard and forward spacer stack, these are from a previous knife I did that the owner
decided to "test" by flogging it with a 3Ib hammer!
Stag is Sambar, masking tape around it to protect it.
Alloy pommel for light weight. One thing I don't like about the standard 1281 is how heavy the handle feels,
this is the reason for this project.

Wow! Beautiful job. Thank you for taking us along during your process.

Man--I'd love to see this, but pics are not showing up for me... are they visible to anyone else?

Wow that looks incredible! Do you have to apply downward tension before you put the butt cap pin in?

Thanks mate!To answer you question:-
Yes,but not much as the stag doesn't compress.
When sizing the handle length,I have the pommel hole about a quarter of a hole out of alignment in regards to the tang hole.
With a sharp and pointy pin hammered in,the slight compression of the spacers is all that's needed.
The spacers are all the same thickness, but in the pics the rear ones look thicker for some reason.
Thanks for the query.
