I don't know the answer to question.

I've had both tip up And tip down but never really had a preference. I am curious why you would want tip down?

Sure it's possible if you want to add more holes to your scales. Location would depend upon which clip you have to put on there.

I guess anything is possible but it would not look original and IMO very out of place on a Sebenza. If you were to try it just be careful not to drill too deep since the holes would be right about where the pivot is located.
I guess you don't agree with your signature line quote??

Resale value of knife ?? Could you even sell it with a tip down clip conversion................

Of course it's possible, you just need to drill holes where desired on the scale. There's no specific place you would need to do it.
Although Ernie beat me to it, nice quote! :D

It is certianly possible...BUT, it is not something to be taken lightly. Getting the geometry correct is more important than many might assume. If you want to do this, I would strongly urge finding someone that specializes in such modificaitons and hope they are good;)

Thanks. Resale isn't a concern. I recently switched to tip down carry, sold most of my knives, and am currently waiting on a couple of customs. Since they'll be several months out I wanted to see if this was an option.

I don't have one handy, can anyone see if there's enough room north of the small 21's pivot to accommodate a three hole standard Emerson/Benchmade style clip? And if there's not, what about on the Large 21?

I have zero interest in tip down, so please understand that I have not invested a great deal of time in the following, but I enjoy a classy modification, so I invested a little bit of thinking....

On my 21 larges, it appears that there would be just barely enough room to have a recess milled to accept the CRK clip. I understand the easy route would be slamming in a few holes and bolting on a three hole clip, but to me this would look a bit like a big roof rack installed on top of a brand new luxury SUV with gutter nails.

It will cost you some money and time (spent looking for the right person to pull this off) but I would strongly urge doing it right. I do not know you, but I cannot help but believe that you appreciate the design and aesthetic of the Sebenza (based on your sig and the fact that you are posting in this forum)....and in that regard, I think you will appreciate a modification that looks like the way CRK might have done it if they were asked. (or not...)

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. If the 3 hole clip doesn't work out I'll go about having the CRK clip set in. However there might need to be some extra milling done. Does there seem like there's enough space to fit the 3 hole clip?

By the way, it'll probably be fitted with one of Les George's timascus 3 hole clips, so it shouldn't look that bad.

I really have no idea considering that I do not have any clips laying around like you describe. Threre are many varieties around including some that have a hole for the pivot (and if you use one like that, you will have all sorts of room).

I dunno, but it seems to me like this may blow the ergos of the knife, and the CRK clip is hands-down the best clip ever invented by humanity. I guess I'd sooner retool my brain than retool the knife.

Having said that, I appreciate anyone who has the inspiration to take on such a mod, so good luck and please post pics!
