I am looking for the list of elements in this blend of stainless. My list, I think, is published by Spyderco, doesn't have it. Does anyone have a link to this info? Thanks in advance!

425M - 12C27
Both are very similar to 440A. 425M (.5% carbon) is used by Buck knives. 12C27 (.6% carbon) is a Scandanavian steel used often in Finish puukkos and Norwegian knives.

This is from the
Bladeforums steel FAQ. There are other links there too. Good luck.

Or do a search for 12C27... you'll find a lot of threads.

Seems no-body knows this steel in the US.. anyways, to make a long story short, It cuts like 440 B, stainless like 440A and much more flexible then any stainless steel I met. Steel works like 440A, but finishes much nicer due to smaller grain size and very pure steel structure (much better structure then 440B or ATS/154 )

A steel of choice for kitchenknives, filetting knives and diving knives. Or for knives in general if you can't stand rust :D

If it were not for the supersteels (440V, 420V and it's succesors) this would be an excellent steel and much more used.

Some time ago, Bailey Bradshaw told me that he used to use this steel in some of his customs and his Whitewings, but his supply ran out and he switched to CPM3V. I wonder if it is harder to get in the States, now. I just ordered a custom Vagnino that has this steel and was wondering what I can expect in terms of performance.

What can you expect? ehh picture a soft version of VG-10, which you will need to sharpen a few times more, but sharpens a lot easier, is a tad more flexible and more stain resistant.

Doesn't Delta-Z use this steel and call it Sandvik? I have a prototype with CF handles and I think I asked Barnaby this question, but I get far too confused with steels............wolf;)

Italian dudes like Delta-Z like this steel very much. they used to use bonpertus (french manufacter of steel) 440B, but french and italians.. doesn't mix :D

Now Delta-Z buys entire rolls of this stuff by sandvik.
They'd better buy 19C27 if ya ask me (anyone ever noticed that 19C27 has the exact same composition as VG-10? )

I'd use it in my kitchenknives if minimal amount to buy wasn't like 250 pounds :D
