I recently purchased a complete set of 1987 & 1988 Bluegrass Winchesters in order to fill some blanks in my set. All but one (the first) are the duplicates and from the set.

All knives are new and unused and include the box. I also have a big stack of original receipts from when these were purchased new in the late 80's (for more than I'm selling them for!), if I have a receipt for the knife you're buying I'll include it.

I also aquired a beautiful Winchester store display case, see details on it at the bottom of the list.

  • 29017 Canoe, delrin scales, stainless blades, newer 2000 knife - $20 (not pictured)
  • W15 1927 1988 Toadsticker - $60
  • W15 2913 1/2 1988 Moose - $60 (My personal favorite)
  • W15 2935 1988 Congress - $50 (rare piece with slant bolsters)
  • W15 1987-1 Brass Win Mdl 1873 rifle - $25 (2 of these)
  • W15 2851 1988 Gunstock - $45
  • W15 2880 1/2 1988 Swellcenter pen - $60
  • W15 3904 Swell Center 3 spring whittler - $60
  • W15 1988-1 Brass Win Mdl 1912 lockback - $30
  • W15 2991 1988 Balloon Pen - $55
  • W15 2857 1987 Teardrop Jack - $50
  • W15 3964 1987 very rare serpentine stockman, satin finished blades - $135 (Book on this one is over $300)

Winchester knife store display cabinet. Pretty amazing, solid oak, storage for 75+ boxed knives. Two compartments, one for "behind glass" display, one for storage, both lock. $140.00

In the group shot there's a red dot next to each knife listed above. (not in any particular order)

What are the scales made of, what are the dim. of the display box?

I've heard the scales called a lot of things but it's basically a brown or peachseed jig bone in various shades. The bone on these early Bluegrass pieces is supposed to be antique aged bone left over from the old Utica knife factory. It's some of the nicest stuff I've seen and has much more "soul" than most of the newer stuff on the market.

The knife box is approximately 16" wide, 19.5" tall, 4 1/2" deep at the top widening to 7" at the base. There are two doors, one opens to internal storage and the other opens to the display. The display area is foam and will conform to any shape, it's not form fitted to these specific knives so many different knives can be displayed in it.

I forgot to metion that the keys to the locks are also included.

cpirtle, real nice knives,I e-mailed a friend about this sale,I'm not in a position right now to buy, otherwise I would take em all.I recently made afew purchases, and some orders, and then there's the NYCNS this weekend.Good luck with the sale, and nice sheaths and ranch, too. VCM3

Thanks VCM3, I appreciate the compliments & referral. (I also know what it's like to be heading to a knife show ;))

These positions are based off of the picture of just knives, not the picture of the storage box, hope that's what you wanted.

2nd up/right:
2913 1/2 1988 Moose. Measures 4 1/8" closed with 2 blades, each 3 3/8". (My favorite pattern of all the Winchesters)

2nd down/left:
2857 1987 Teardrop Jack. Measures 3 1/2" closed with 2 blades, main is 2 1/2", second is 1 7/8".

3rd down/left:
W15 3964 1987 Serpentine Stockman. 3 5/8" closed with 3 blades, 2 3/4" main, 1 7/8" spey, 1 7/8 sheepsfoot. This one is extremely rare with the satin finished blades, very few are known to be around as the vast majority made were high polished blades.

Hope this helps but feel free to ask for more details if interested. Can work a deal on multiples.

Thanks!
Chad
