As per an old post made by Thomas. I’m paraphrasing because I can’t find the thread.

July 07 was the official starting point for 13C26.

All prior is 440A.

****EDIT***** Originally posted 440C.
I meant 440A as corrected by riffraff

But these models have always been 13C26.
Speed Bump,
Cyclone's,
JYD's
Need's Work,
Groove's,
ET's
Storm's

I have a few Cyclone's & Mini Cyclone's and a Speed Bump from around
August, September 2006. Born on date that is.

Did Kershaw start using 13C26 on these models that early or is my information wrong?

So does this mean that even though my clam pack says "440A" the knife says Nov 08 on it, so it's actually the 13C26 Sandvik?

I hope so, because I got myself a standard black blur partially serrated about a week ago and I'm really loving it. I forgot how comfy these Blurs are :D It actually pushed my SMF aside for a day or two, I had to carry a knife per pocket just to keep from going knuts :p

AWESOME, my ol`Storm II is 440A, now I have a reason to buy another one. Daddy needs the new steel, yep, thats my excuse and a good one at that. See, always a reason to buy more Kershaws, lol.

I’m surprised that KAI was using 13C26 as early as Aug. 2006
on a select number of models.

I wonder why?

They seem to be ahead of the competition. Now this manifests itself in their use of 14C28N they and Sandvik cooked up together. This steel is exclusive to Kershaw.

If it's a 1670BLKST and if the blade date says NOV 08, its 13C26. At this time I don't know of any exceptions to this.

I thought this thread was going to be talking about when the 13C26 knives switched over to 14C28 :)

Last time Thomas talked about it, anything still using 13C26
would be switched to 14C28N in March.

So has the RAM I think? I'm still not sure what steel mine is.

The RAM's started out with 13C26. The only way to know for sure
is to get one once the Mar/09 switch is made. In any regard, both
are great steels IMHO.

Are Blurs in 14C28 out on the market?

You really can't be certain until the Mar/09 change over.....just a few days
away. You'll pretty much just have to wait until you find one with a Mar/09
BOD to be sure it is 14C28N.
