I have a 13OT still new in box with wood grain and gold lettering. What year and how popular were they?

The drop point 13OT Trailblazer was produced for only three years, so they are not very common, though not rare yet in NIB condition. If fact, new ones are more often seen than used ones. Together with the low production, that points to poor sales of the pattern, so it evidently was not a popular offering at the time. The companion clip point 14OT Timberline suffered a similar fate, produced for four years (1978-1981). Again, more often found new in the box than used.

Derick,

Just to add to Codger's comments.

There are two of them for sale on eBay right now, there is often none. You can watch the auctions' closing prices to get an idea of value and collectibility. They are not as common as other OldTimer patterns and it's difficult to get one NIB for a reasonable price. The only 13OT that shows up in an eBay Completed Items search closed at $157.

Just curiousity, Derick... How popular were/are Schrade knives in your country? Were they commonly sold in sporting goods, knife shops?

Most of the big names were and still are available in South Africa including Schrade designs. Few USA Schrade still in the outdoor/gun shops. Not sure about the China ones. I have only 3 Schrade. 13OT,165OT and 88OT which I bought over the years. I made a knife based on the 165OT, which like Codger, think is one of the best designs around.
