never seen a 'razor' before, that cleaver is tempting..

the razor formerly known as the "sher attitude" i think

there were a couple a few weeks/months back, otherwise, it's ... rare

I agree with the rest, very nice selection. Hopefully, I can snag an horn handled SD knife and an Bahadur Knife with neem handle, soon.
Thank You Yangdu for all these nice gifts to the forumites. I have been searching for an Most thoughtful gift for you this season, if anyone can help me see what Yangdu would like the most, please pm me. Happy Holidays ALL, Dave.:D

Yep, will snag my first some day but it is hard as I am at work when she posts the deals of the day.

I have been interested in a khukuri for some time now, and think I'm finally ready to make the leap. I have been trying to find the right khukuri for me, and have looked through the applicable threads. Would you explain to me how the 18 inch 42 ounce Amar Sing Thapa by Dil Kami in this post is comparable to the AK? It looks about right for the wilderness blade I am after, however I have little experience and would like some feedback from someone with experience/knowledge. I have been reading and I seem to think the chiruwa AK also seems like something I would like. I am interested in the 15-18 inch range, and like the look/necessity of a somewhat pointy blade with enough heft to do some serious chopping. Thanks

The AK, especially the CAK will be a good bit more heavy duty than the ASTK, and the CAK in particular is warranted for use as a prybar, whereas the others are not.

In regards to a wilderness knife, are you looking for a "car camping" knife or a backpacking knife?
If you plan to hike with it, I wouldn't go with anything bigger than the 16.5" CAK. They start to get quite heavy to lug around any larger.

Personally, I've never used anything larger than my 12" Pen knife when I'm backpacking but I'm all about minimum weight. I've been able to baton with it just fine. It can also fall a 4" diameter tree if necessary; it just takes a lot more effort as it only weighs 1 lb.

Just my thoughts. No matter what you end up with, you'll enjoy it all the same.

Yea, I would be using it for backpacking and other tasks. I am definately leaning towards the CAK in the 16.5 inch size, and sent an email in to check if theres any left over christmas specials. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm looking forward to my future Khukuri!

It really depends on the blade itself-there's so much variation even among the same design... I have a little 9.5 inch blade sirupati I'm in love with-the balance is perfect and it performs perfectly. I'll say the Tamang, Jungle Knife, Annapurna and Bahadur are all super in size and design for rough use backpacking and camp knives.

PayetteRucker,

Did you get that 9.5" Siru as a DOTD or does HI sell that size? I recently sharked a 12" blade Siru (18" OAL) and I just love the design. Cuts through small tree limbs like butter! I'd love to get another one in a shorter length.
