I've been keeping my eye out for blacksmith stuff for sale, and yesterday I scored this stuff for 140$. The swedge block was 60$ of that. I went looking for tongs, but I still feel like I did ok!?

There are two good things there. The swedge block and the stake anvil.
The best part is that the stake anvil will fit in one of the swedge block square holes.

The punches and chisels are neat, but rarely used. You never know when you will need a roofing hammer ( the hatchet like tool).

The yellow painted drawing hammer is useful for some shaping tasks.

The cross peen and the machinist's hammer are good for the tool bin, as you can't have too many hammers ... ( and I should know :) ) .

It IS a hatchet - carpenters ! At 12 years old I put cedar shingles on the house I'm in now . The carpenter's hatchet is the perfect tool ,the cutting end to do the necessary splitting of the shingles ! [yes at that age I actually was productive ! ]

I mostly just wanted the swedge block, because stuff like that is pretty hard to find around here. They're maybe not all important tools for knife making but I think having them will be handy at some point, and I just like old stuff. I'll make use of that hatchet for sure
