I received an 141-L that has a different blade pattern than the other 141-L's I have. After a little research, I noticed this blade pattern was shown in the 1971 Catalog only. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this.

G'Day Jackie, I'm looking at both my Schrade Walden N.Y. U.S.A. 141 Tang identical to your top knife with Bear Head Butts and also my Schrade Walden N.Y. U.S.A. 141 Tang without Bear Head Butt identical to your bottom knife. The top I believe is a Sears Craftsman and has a number of "up market differences" to the bottom knife. The blade shape difference is obvious as is the Bear Head Butt and red spacer handle washers. The bottom has brass cross guard unlike the top and is also larger as is the leather handle substantially wider. In fact they are so dissimilar they could have rated an entirely different pattern No. #.I've always thought it was Sears 'sassying up' their version even though both made by Schrade Walden.
