1464 vs. 1281

Should I go with the KA-BAR 1464 or the newer 1281? Interested in them because of the D2. Anyone have any experience with either?
 
The 1281 is still in production and the 1464 was discontinued a while back. The 146x knives only show up occassionally. I like both, but would like a plain edge 1281. The 1461 was a plain edge. The difference betweeen a 1281/1282/1283 is the sheath - 81 is a cordura sheath, 82 is plastic and 83 is leather.
