15.5" Chitlangi arrived today

What a cute little beauty it is!

My wife likes my chitlangi khukuris. I thought it would be cool to have a matching pair of his-and-hers chitlangis.

Well on a recent DOD I snagged one, just like my favorite; horn handled, brass bolster and pommel, but more her size (she's 5'4") at 15.5".


Kami Santosh made it and it came with a nice sharp edge. It didn't take much work at all to turn the little chitlangi into a khukuri-shaped straight razor.

There's a split in the leather wrap of the sarki which I could easily fix though.

And I was pleasantly surprised to see Ms Yangdu included a Himalayan Imports' calendar!

Seems to me Santosh is yet another skilled kami. I like his work.

Fit and finish of the 15.5" Chitlangi is very good. Edge hardness is excellent. It took a scary-sharp edge and retains it well. The seam on the bolster was tricky to find and is barely noticeable.

The balance of the little Chitlangi is delightful. It is very quick and very well balanced.
