I finally had a chance to handle both a 15 and a 16 (17 never quite caught my eye). I loved the feel of the 15 in hand, at least while in the shop. I keep hearing however that the 16 was the perfect all-around knife...

My questions:
What does the 15 do better than the 16?
What does the 16 do better than the 15?

My planned uses would be mostly camp chores, maybe light kindling work.
If it changes anything, I also have a BK 5 and 10. Not necessary looking to fill any gaps - more a general purpose stand-alone kinda blade.
And no, not (yet) looking to get a 9 :D.

Thanks.

If you already have a 5, then get the 16 as the 15 is a mini 5....the 16 is more like a mini 2 and that my friend you re missing... So,get a 16...and a 2....then a 15.............!!!!!

I have both the 15 and the 16.
The 15 seems to be my go to blade for most tasks. I have changed the angle a bit more acute but not quite a "Fisk". I like it better for processing game to include skinning because of the sweep on the belly of the blade and the point really works well for starting around the legs. It works very well at making shavings and feather sticks throws as good of spark from the fero rod as any.

For heavier wood processing like splitting a cutting I tend to use the correct tool for the job, an Axe, hatchet or my bk4.

I tend to go against the grain around here. I prefer USING the BK4 over the 9, the 15 over the beloved 16 and the 10 over the 2. But I do follow the grain when modifying my blades. Strip and convex.
