The 15", 18 oz Pen Knife I won in Thursdays DOTD arrived this afternoon. What a treat! The Bijaysal wood handle is the most attractive I've ever seen on a khuk and the size (5" counting the brass) fits my hand like a glove.

Overall the PK is 1.5" shorter than my Chiruwa AK, and it weighs 6 oz less. No time for a test yet (will do tomorrow), but I'm betting that this may be the best ounce for ounce chopper I own. This is a relatively light blade but the weight is well distributed forward, a function of the light standard handle and the wide blade tip. Also boding well for chopping power is the relatively thin blade and highly curved sweet spot. Both of these factors should improve penetration.

Can't wait to test. Will report results with photos tomorrow.:D

Great Bill! Can't wait to see your photos and hear what you think. Nice snag and great wood on that one. That model is definitely on my list.

I'm dying to try one of those 15" Pen Knives, but I want a villager with a saatisal handle, the plainer and homelier the better.

Sarge

Yup, sort of a seedy looking character ;)

Hot Dayum (to coin a phrase)

The version with the grey mo is holding a magnum pre-realease Bhutan sword

Obviously now declassified:D

Norm, trust me.. you can let go the other hand now.
Steve has it ;)

I just sent a 15" pen back because it had some rust along the side of the blade that was hidden under the grease. Odd thing is it said Danny in Japan on the handle honest! Yangdu took it back but sent me a 12" instead. We'll get it worked out but I was dying to take it out and do some chopping with it! Now I like the 12" so much I want to keep that as well. Oh man do I have it bad...

Hi Bill:

I just got my 12" villager PK with neem handle. It is the best knife I've seen and a very practical size. I sharpened it on my Edge Pro Apex and it shaves hairs. It is such a sweet size that I am more likely to have it around than a big kuk. I feel, that for me, it is an outstanding knife.

Dang! Yangdun knows all of Danny's knives are supposed to be shipped to my house! ;)

Errr..Sarge....I like the no glasses, bearded look better. Steely eyes too.

With 2 braided pony tails you look like a younger version of Willie Nelson.

I am a fan :D

Sounds great Steve. I started in the middle and worked my way up. Now I'm coming down in size and thinking in terms of what I would really be willing to carry in different circumstances. The 15" PK is my smallest yet, but it's the weight that has really come down. At 18 oz it's well below my 24 oz, 16.5" Chiruwa AK, the next one up the scale

Hi Bill:

Your PK is two inches longer than my PK. Yours must be a heck of a good all around knife judging by how usefull my 12" is.
