Well, i can definitely tell this is going to be a real addiction now. My 15" "blem" came in the mail today. Of course I tore box open as soon as I saw the return address. :)

Have yet to check it out under heavy light/magnification, but like BIll, I'm not sure why it was in Blem box either. closest things i can find are what might be a scratch in bolster, and some slight(but very natural) variation in color(stretch to coall it discoloration) in the handle.

This is my first Khukuri, and glad I picked HI. Didn't quite grasp how massivly built this thing would be. Looking at it from spine, can see why this is billed the "unbreakable knife", or whatever it is the HI web page says. Heck, haven't gone outside to compare it yet, but pretty sure this is thicker than any of leafs on my truck. :)

Not a shaving edge on the utility knife(have to look up name for that again) or on the Khuk, but that is easily fixed with the sharpmaker(plan on making utility knife shaving sharp, but keep khuk closer to edge I put on my hatchets). Handle fits my hand very well, and this sure doesn't feel a pound and a half. Until I start swinging it along blade axis of course. Can definitely see how a little thing like this can double as both axe and machete out in bush. Can't wait till I can give it real workout. Sadly, all plants at apt. complex here have recently been well trimmed. But I have a campout in two weeks that I'll try it out at.

THanks again Bill, VERY happy with my purchase, and will definitely be getting more. Happy I went with friends advice and got an AK from HI, rather than some of the other khukuri's available. Also expect I'll have some more converts for you after some of my friends check it out at campout. :)

Anyways, was very excited to get it(been complaining last two days that I want it now). so had to say something. And yes, I know it's ridiculous to complain when I get it in 48 hours from ordering. What can I say, was VERY eager to get it in my hands. :)

Welcome to the sickness!! :) I love AKs...though they make you strange. When I look at 1/4 inch blades and think, how cute and light!

Man, I've got worse problems then that, Have some 1/8" and 5/32" stock here which used to alwys work great for smaller knives i make, but now that looks paper thing next to my AK. :D

Where is your signature quote from? It sounds like mid-50's to early 60's Robert Anson Heinlein but from a story I can't recall except very vaguely. What and where does it come from? Please? I'll be scratching and eventually pounding my head if you don't tell me...

SHould probably fix that to reference those. Both quotes are from Mr. Heinlein, as most quotes I use anwyhere in life are. :) TANSTAAFL of course was on flag of Luna Free State, originally described in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress", and later referred to in "That Cat Who Could Walk Through Walls" and other pieces by Mr. Heinlein.

The second quote is from "Tunnel in the Sky". It is Helen talking to Rod, her brother and the main character, as she gave him her favorite knife(Lady MacBeth) to carry, along with his own(Colonel Bowie) on his first solo survival mission. Being as I often claim that a good knife is more valuable than any other single piece of survival equipment(besides a good head on your shoulders filled with all the information you can pack in), a quote telling someone to carry TWO good knives is about best bit of advice I've ever seen. And I'm done lecturing now. :)

BTW, don't think I've ever had anyone before recognize the second quote as being Heinlein. Lots of people recognize TANSTAAFL, of course.
