I picked up the first batch of 15" tomahawk blanks from the waterjetters today.

15 of them, five of each design:

In comparison with their longer and shorter brethren:

Wrecker:

Woodsman:

And War Chief:

I'm getting ready for the Usual Suspects Network Gathering show in Las Vegas at the end of the month and my goal is to have a small handful of the new size on hand there. :)

Idaho - I'll weigh them and take a picture showing point of balance when I have them finished up. The 18" ones are about 30 to 31 ounces, and the 12" are about 25 ounces, to give a general idea.

If I don't heat stroke in the process, I hope to have the first handful up for sale at the Usual Suspects Network Gathering show in Las Vegas over Labor Day Weekend. We'll see. :)

James,
Good luck at the show and drink water my friend. It has been in the 50s and 60s here in the great state of MT. Is there a waiting list if you don't sell out at the show? I am getting excited like a kid in a toy store to get my hands on one.

Working my way back home from Las Vegas, should get there later in the day tomorrow.

I managed to get together one each of the 15" models in time for the show. Only pictures so far were done on the table at the show without the best of lighting, but they should get the idea across.

Here are the three of them on the left corner of the table, Wrecker, War Chief, and Woodsman.

The 18", 15", and 12" Wrecker models side by side for comparison.

The Woodsman sold at the show, so I won't get an opportunity to get any more pics of that particular one. I did get to snap this before it left the table.

The 15"ers are all wearing a new handle material for me: Tero Tuf. It's a composite material similar in concept to Micarta, but tougher and less toxic to work with. It feels similar to canvas Micarta, but the texture feels a bit nicer on the hand, I think. I will be eventually moving all the 'hawks over to it.

Got home and got some pics of the 15" Wrecker and War Chief that came back with me. I didn't get to finish the War Chief's sheath before leaving, but plan to do so tomorrow if I can. I'll also see if I can get my wife to get a picture of the balance point before she goes to work.

Thanks, Otter. The show went well, made some sales, got some future orders, made good contacts, had fun. It's a bit slower for us fixed blade makers since a lot of folks on the USN focus on folders, but I was expecting that. Still need to finish up sheaths on the naked blades; got folks wanting to see what I had left over. :)

One of the more interesting happenings for me was getting to spend a few minutes talking with a Marine who had been over in the sandbox and carried an RMJ. He told me that it was his second most used piece of equipment over there behind a folding knife, and I got to pick his brain on the tasks it had been put to. Said he's planning on getting one of mine for a buddy. :)

Here's the point of balance on the 15"ers. They're a nice compromise between the power of the 18" and the compactness of the 12", and very nimble.
