Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't HI's fifteen year anniversay coming up soon? I don't know when exactly, but four years ago when I first became a customer I remember reading on the HI website that they had been in business for eleven years. So by my calculation, HI and Uncle Bill have been helping Nepal and its kamis for a decade and a half. I think congratulations are in order.

If so - I'll have another sip of my bevvie to Uncle, the Kamis, Yangdu, JP, Sarge, Pen, Roadrunner, Kismet and everybody I haven't tipped to here !!

:D

Ray in Florida took over while Bill and Yangdu went back to see if they wanted to live in Nepal, but I don't know.

I hope this isn't out of line, as he told it to me in a one to one situation though it seems to be open about it. I'd expressed a disappointment for being age 50 and not having learned what I now realized I wanted/needed to know

Bill told me I was his age ( this was a couple years back ) when he first went to Nepal with the Peace Corp. He was sent back due to medical problens not treatable in Nepal

It was when he went back the second time that he found a guru to teach him the Buddhist path.

I don't know how long it was between the start of the first trip and the return from the second trip.

HI had already been started before the third trip and Ray left in charge.

Got started (slow start I might add -- first ad in Knives Illustrated sold two khukuris) in the fall of 1988. This fall will mark 15 years. Need to change the info on the website.
