I had a disagreement with a friend on what will be worth more 15 years from now,Strider Knives or Randalls.I collected Randalls for years and sold my collection a couple of years ago.Made a BALE OF MONEY.But I quit collecting them in 1979.Did not buy another and sold collection.I presently do not collect them.
What do you think?

Randall's will be worth more than Strider's as a collector knives. They have many knives going way back that are very collectable. There are a great many people that collect Randalls and never use them although many people use them as well. Strider knives are used not collected and I doubt they will ever be a highly collected knife.

The above is just my opinion and I most certainly could be proved wrong, but I would be willing to wager a large amount that in 15 years Randall knives will be worth more to collectors than Strider's.

I'll have to pick Randall. I went to the San Jose Tech. Museum over the Thanksgiving holiday and view the Liberty Bell 7 display with Guss Grissoms, Randall 17 Astro. History, beauty and craftsmanship. Then where was a desire to order a Randall to start a collection.
Don't get me wrong Strider knives have craftsmanship and beauty.

I would bet on the Randalls. They have enough good press to keep them going long after they make the last one.

This is a "laugher"...Randalls will be worth sooooooo much more!

By the way..I don't own one..., have had knives (many) for 30 years)...and never thought Randalls were that great..(nice knife), but they are probably one of the most professionally run companies around.., with marketing strategies and "History" on their side.

No contest!!!!

I'll go against the grain on this one...

The reason is that I think more people who buy the Striders will use and abuse them as opposed to collecting them, where I would think that it's the exact opposite with the Randall's.

So finding a mint Strider will possibly be more difficult than finding and mint Randall.

Simple supply and demand IMHO.

Wow, Randalls are just way out of my league. Maybe one day. but I am trying to somehow get my hands on two of each Strider model made. One to use and one to collect. I see the day 20 years from now, where a Pristine NIB MFS will be worth it's weight in Gold. Never commanding the mega-bucks of a Randall, but in perspective, I paid $175 in 2001. it is now 2021 and I see a cherry MFS going for $750.00. Not a bad profit.........wolf

Actually, I don't think Randalls are all that expensive. Many models are in the mid-200s; certainly comparable to Strider's line-up. I'm not sure which will be worth more. I tend to think that many people do in fact buy Randalls to collect. If everybody has a collection of pristine Randalls, they obviously won't be rare. Consider also the output of the respective companies: I would bet that Randall makes many more knives every year than Strider. That said, I think it will boil down to demand. If Strider develops the same reputation Randall has, and the same following (which they seem on their way to doing), I can easily imagine "early Striders" being worth a great deal to collectors.
