Hi guys,
any idea how to spend up to 150 bucks on a folding knife?
  • blade length 3-4 inches
  • blade not thicker than 0.125 inches
  • no Spydercos, no Adamas 275, no ZT
  • not a too martial look
Knife should be very solid, especially the locker, good overall finish
mandatory.

I have the DPX Hest 2.0 in mind, seems a little nick-nack maybe.
Thank you very much and sorry for my english, regards from Germany,
Thorsten

Just wondering why you are ruling out spydercos and ZT's? They fit your criteria pretty good, and if there is some aspect about them you dislike, I wouldn't want to recommend a knife with that feature.

Sure, I do like them. Just looking for interesting alternatives!

Hogue is a good one, Kershaw JYD II in SG2 might interest you, and in that price range you can get some emersons and maybe an Al Mar Sere

Spyderco Military sounds perfect, but you said no Spydercos for some reason. Emerson Horseman is a little on the smaller size at 3 1/4 inches but it has a pretty big handle and is right at your price point.

If you could deal with a thicker blade (0.15" I believe), the Benchmade Contego is one heck of a knife. Coated CPM M4 high speed steel, gorgeous G-10 scales and an Axis lock. Its a steal at around $120-140. Worth looking into.

I think its a much better knife than the DPX Heat Folder 2.0. Its also way less of a gamble quality wise.

For another $20 & good timing you could get a Flaherty framelock.I say "good timing" because he doesn't take orders, but puts up a new framelock a couple of times a month. You just have to be there when he does, because it rarely stays up for longer than a minute or two.

Here's a Model 1 with orange g10

overall length 8 & 1/8"

Best $170 I've ever spent.The F&F is on par with $500+ knives I've owned.

The HEST 2.0 is a great knife. Mine has been my constant companion since I got it. The JYD 2 is another good one. Look at the Spyderco Valloton and Citadel Deimos. Fox Prohunter folder is another good one. I know what you mean about wanting knives that are a little different. I hate having the same stuff everyone else has.
