I'm so excited by the package i just opened that i'm posting now and will get pics up shortly.
I just received my 4th 260SC, the first issue, 1976, new unused and in the original correct box with the correct black stippled sheath.
The tang is marked: Schrade/U.S.A. 260SC and the serial # on right front bolster 02006.
But, the end of the box is printed with 152 SC !
And the registration card, also #02006, with the hand written name of "Richard C. Reeves" and dated "6-30-76" purchased from "Gunter's Exxon" is for "Schrade's/Scrimshaw Sharp Finger" !
The 152OT came out in 1976 and the first scrimshaw version, the 502SC came out in 1983.
The fact that the box is correct in every way except for the 152 SC printed on the end of the top, and that the registration card has the same 02006 serial # despite saying "Schrade's/Sharp Finger" makes this a REAL MYSTERY !
Pics to validate that it's not the smoke up here will be posted soon.
Any ideas ??

Roland,
The 152SC and the 260SC were both made in 1975. 1263 of the 152SC and 506 of the 260SC's were made by the years end.

Does the box show a sailor sitting by a wheel?

Sounds like someone swapped the insides of the box maybe at the counter at the store. Could have been at the factory too.

In 1977 they changed the numbers to 155SC and 261SC Just to confuse us!

The 502SC shows up in 1980.

Great knives.

Drat ! Daylight now but snowing so can't take pics yet.
Larry, yes, correct box with the shoeless sailor sitting against a ship's wheel. same as my other 3, also in their box. I did not know there was a 152OT Scrimshaw in the first year of these Scrimshaws. The registration card having the same serial# as the knife might mean that the original owner bought a matching 152OT and then switched boxes and registration card.
Not knowing that the 152 came out in a Scrimshaw version with the first run of these knives made for more confusion. I was using Clemente's book as a reference. Obviously i need the Michael Little authoratative text !
I will get pics up as soon as the weather cooperates.

I believe you nailed it in one. And... that is a nice example of the knife. Now score a 152SC! If fact, the first two/three scrim sets are quite doable without breaking the bank.

Thanks for the help Michael. I've never seen a 152SC with the eagle & whale, whereas i have 4 of these 260SC with their box, etc. and a couple of others no sheath/box.
Was the 152SC produced in far fewer numbers ?
And yes these are very affordable. The above 260SC cost me a total of $37, and about the same for the others. These Folding Hunters with their good sheaths would be an excellent carry knife for this price but should be much higher as this first issue has collector significance.

Nice one Roland!

It is a mystery though. Serial # matches and its the right plastic tray but it's no Sharpfinger. Maybe someone did buy both 02006 knives and stuff got mixed up at some point.

Did they all come with the lanyard? I'm thinking it was added as well. It doesn't say anything about one here:

As far as the affordability of these I think it is supply and demand once again. It says they made 12000 (1000 dozen) of these which is a pretty big number.
