Hi all,

Well, I came across a Uncle Henry/Schrade+ 152UH with the staglon scales that I had left in a storage building a few states away about ten years ago.

Can anyone tell me if it is stainless or 1095? I bought it new from Bass Pro about 12 or 13 years ago (their last one in stock at the time, and it was their display knife).

Thanks!

SCHRADE+ = Stainless Steel. The Uncle Henry line was stainless across the board with the exception of a few.

Thanks, Thawk.

Were the standard Schrades with no + carbon only, or were there some stainless back when they were American made?

Yes. :) Traditionally, Uncle Henry knives were stainless and Old Timers were carbon. At least that is what we came to believe. But now we know better. A few Uncle Henry knives were carbon steel from their introduction. A few Old Timers were stainless from their introduction. Most Uncle Henry knives eventually were switched over to stainless. As were quite a few Old Timers in the later years. While SCHRADE+ indicates stainless, the absence of the "+" does not indicate anything. Complicated, I know. One almost has to take each knife on a case by case basis and determine if that example is carbon or stainless.

Does anyone know if there were some 5 OT's made early on with carbon blades, or were they all stainless? Thanks!

Yes. I'm not sure but I think they ran from 1987 to 1998, and switched to SS in 1993. These 5" Schrade knives are a great size too.
