Hello all.
I never knew your guys/gals where out here until today.
I just got 153 Uncle Henry with a case and sharpener.
The knife has a excellent feel to it and is very well balanced.
I am hoping ya'll can help me date this knife and price it as well.

I will never sell it,I just got it off e-bay last week.

I will sharpen and clean it up and clean my deer with it in September.

I have alway like the shrade line I am sorry to hear of thier closing.

I used a Old timer my wife got me on my deer last year, the blade was just to short to keep my hand out of the middle of the mess.I had it sharp enough to shave with so it worked fine.
This UH is a little longer and thinner I like the idea.
Look forward to your replys.

PS I have posted this on the general board and they told about you guys over here.

We refer to ourselves here as "Uncle Henry's Lost Souls", Uncle Henry being Henry Baer whose signature should be on your 153UH Golden Spike.

The 153UH has been a pretty popular knife since it was introduced in 1974. It first listed at $41.95, and the 2004 catalog (the last ever) listed it at $69.95. The current value depends upon condition of course, but they generally sell from $35.00 to $85.00. Beware that this year they began copying the design in China. Those that I have seen have red spacers in the handle, not the traditional black ones.

I like the hidden tang finger groove handle as well. But my true affection is the sawcut Delrin handled full tang models with carbon steel blades, the Old Timers. The 160OT Mountain Lion is the Old Timer version of the 153UH. Besides having a different handle design, it is flat ground, not sabre ground like the 153UH as our LT pointed out to me.

What steel is it?

It is heavy. feels good, black spacers.

Phillips screw in the bottom of the handle, brass thumb and end cap.
Smells like a leather shop,I love it.
