154 CM for a 6" Fixed Blade?

The one I am looking at is a .25" thick at the spine with a 6" blade, just wondering if 154 has any inherent negatives I should keep an eye on, ie corrosion, edge retention or brittleness.

properly heat treated this is an excellent steel - I would be more concerned that the blade shape & profile and the handle & balance of the knife you are considering buying are appropriate for your intended usage

I am getting what I consider a "general purpose" knife (TOPS Screaming Eagle) I have always liked the design.
