I just got some 15N20 from Kelly (0.80 thick). I used this stuff for a couple pieces when I first started making damascus and only had really thin stock. This stuff's darn near 1/8" and seems pretty tough. I know it has pretty much the same properties as 1084 so, I just wondering if anyone's tried making a blade just from 15N20 and how it was. I'm sure someone has tried this.
;)

Hi J. 15n20 is very similar to L6...it should make a pretty durable knife,i too wanted to try it for a blade...just haven't got around to it yet...good luck bro!

We have a knife made from 15N20. We use the knife almost every day cutting cardboard for packages. It is very easy to sharpen and takes a scary edge. Some of the cardboard we use is very stiff. When using the knife I see the edge flex but it never takes a set. The knife still looks new with no stains or darkening.

I like 15N20. I wish it were readily available in thicker material.

I've got a little Al Dippold neck knife made out of 15N20. Salt quenched, it takes and holds a wicked edge. And, is pretty easy to sharpen. Not even remotely close to stain resistant, but it's a really good blade.

I use quite a bit of it, from salvaged sawblades, J.
Like was said above, takes a very good edge and finishes out real nice. bruce
