How does 15n20 compare to bandsaw blades (assuming they're L6)as far as the contrast they would give when blended with a 10XX serries steel? i've seen 15n20 and 10XX and bandsaw and 10XX but not side by side to compare the contrast. Thanks for the help

15N20 and L6 are going to look the same blended with 10xxx series steels. Both 15N20 and L6 contain a good bit of nickel, which is what gives the damascus the shiny layers. I could be wrong, but I believe 15N20 and l6 are almost identical, with the exception being that 15N20 contains no chrome.

I use both on a regular basis and for all intense puproses they provide the same contrast. I believe the difference between the two is that 15n20 has a dash more nickle in it that L-6. Both heat treat similar also.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know where to get L-6 bandsaw blade material in the middle Tennessee/north Alabama area? My old stock is all but gone.

i know if you travel to MAi can get you some. IG's shop is full from larry's stock and i have some buddies in a metal fab shop that are saving all theirs for me too. long trip though but you'd go home with a lot of bandsaw blades
