I recently was given by my grandfather who worked at sears he has since passed away a 15OT with the pat pend markings as well as ted williams signature etched in. IN good conidtion just needs to be cleaned up a bit. I have only found one article on this knife. My questions is how common is it? And approximent Value. I'am not selling just curious about it is all. My grandfather didn't get a chance to tell me much about it, and the rest of the family dosen't know anything either. Just looking for some good general info.

Thanks Again

Your knife is not particularly rare, but it is a nice link to your grandfather. It is a good example of an SFO (special factory order) of many that Schrade did for Sears and others. The sheath is original and is more rare than the knife. The pattern is a good one for hunting big game. If it was my knife and my grandfather, I would take it hunting. It would be a tribute to him, in my opinion. Some folks who have valuable collector knives coat them in a product called Renaissance Wax, made in England I believe, and used by museum people, also. Jewelers rouge is a very fine grade polishing abrasive, and there are others. Brasso and various silver polishes could be useful. If you use the search function and do not limit it to the Schrade forum, you will find lots of info on preservation, cleaning, etc. Welcome!
