kept skimming through them seeing which one I wanted:D plenty of time........

I'd like to trade my horn akb for that one.. nice...... !!

That malla at 90 bucks is a steal! Someone needs to jump on that deal. I would if I didn't already own one like it.

Maybe they remind people of the cheap $20 knockoffs
Then they would be mistaken, because they actually look more like the old 18th century Nepalese Armory Bhojpure khukuri that were sold thru AC awhile back.

I agree, very nice lines on today's Malla. The December 10th DOTD had a Malla that also looked very well made but reminded me somewhat of the knockoffs (with the big cho, big ring in the grip, and no bolster):

The Sirupati is gorgeous. I wouldn't mind owning another one to be honest, I really took a liking to my first. I just wish the blade had a wee bit more belly to it...

It is substantial. 18" and 36oz makes for good specifications. It is just too much of an angle for me.

I was late to snatch this. Somewhere there was a Dotd on 2008 a Chiruwa BAS was made without the bolster and it was argued that this design indeed is way stronger than the one bolstered due to the cut-out needed to accommodate the steel ring

The only setback i would think is the rust setting in between the wedge of steel and wood, which could easily be sealed with the silicone-based adhesives. (i tried it and never worried about moisture setting in)

Whoever snatch the earlier Malla, please do a review and let us know! :D

I emailed Auntie several hours ago to see if the Malla is available. If it's still there, I'll take it gladly. It's calling to me loudly. A Siren song I guess since my wife will kill me with it. I haven't heard back though, so who knows. If I get it, I'll do a review. Take care.
