Guys,

I'm looking for a 15UH to help complete my collection. I'm willing to trade a 165UH. If anyone is interested I'll post a picture.

Joel

The 15OT was a very successful pattern. I see them in the catalogs from 1964 through 1997.
I have not seen a 15UH in any of the catalogs. Robert Clemente does not list a 15UH in his book.

Does this mean that a 15OT was never made with Staglon handles..........absolutely not, (even f I have not seen one).
As most Schrade collectors say, "Anything is possible with Schrade."
Schrade was famous for SFOs and small runs that never made the catalog. The 77 Muskrat pattern is never listed in the catalogs being a Uncle Henry, only as an Old Timer, but they did make a special issue of 77UH for Ducks Unlimited. I had never seen a 77UH without the DU etch until one day on ebay.....so I bought it. Later I found out that Larry Vickery (lrv) has one listed on his web site. They are not as rare as I thought.

I have not seen nor heard of a 15UH.........but keep watching eBay. You never know what will show up.
But the 15UH was not in the production line of the Uncle Henry knives.

Now you have me wondering........................Why was such a popular pattern never made as an Uncle Henry?:confused:

Likely because experience showed them that having two lines with competing products did not increase the sales of either, but split the quantities sold between the two. As you know, the careful juggling act at Schrade for many years was reflected by the annual list of slow selling patterns retired and new patterns introduced. That later management lost sight of the idea of reducing their pattern choices is evident in the number of patterns offered in the years 1997-2004. Well, that is my unproven theory anyway.

I have one. It is a Ducks Unlimited, with a piercing in the blade of the DU logo duck head. Typical Uncle Henry staglon, DU sheath, box with white slipcase, and I think some papers. Unknown vintage.

I have a DUC15OTF - In 2001-2002 Ducks Unlimited Canada ordered a special 15OT for their Hallmark knife. Using the 15OT pattern blade, they added filed spine, Uncle Henry style Staglon handle covers with a coined antiqued brass DU shield and lanyard hole near the butt, and letters “CI” lasered through the stainless blade. This order was for 55 pieces.

I haven't looked up the U.S. issue with the duck head laser cutout yet. But when I do, I'll be sure to post it. Just an estimation would be that it was made at or near the same time the Canadian version was.

The logos and text of the papers might help us approximate the date.

After Michael pestered me enough :p I dug out the DU15OT info
It had stagalon handles with a hole for a leather lanyard, oval brass shield and stainless blade with the lasered duck head through the blade. Included a genuine leather sheath

The order for 3500 pieces was ordered 07/2001
Delivery was scheduled with 600 pcs on 3/1/2002, 500 6/1/2002, 900 8/1/2002 600 on 9/15/2002 and finally 300 on 10/15/2002

I've been trying to log onto the new server for hours in an endless loop. But I'm Baaaaaack! Temporarily anyway.

:foot:
Duh! I should have remembered........one of the second or third Schrade blanks I finished was a 15 with a duck head cut out. Now I will have to check it when I get home & see what the tang stamp reads; likely it is 15UH.

Thanks Larry & Codger for refreshing my memory.

Dale

Dale, IIRC, these later stainless SFO 15OT patterned knives did not use the "UH" identifyer on the tang. I am not able to dig mine out at the moment to check it. It is most likely SCHRADE+ over U.S.A. LTD.

I think you are right.
The blank I completed was like the last one you show with the cut-out, but without the etch.

Thanks,
Dale
