Got my triangular box today :) . And the office manager won't let me leave until I show her and allow her to fondle my newest khukuri. (I gave her one of my 12" AKs) One problem...I bought it to give to a Marine I know (the Husband of one of our secretaries) and now I can't give it up! This thing is great! The "hundred year" frog is the thickest I've ever gotten on a khukuri! It's a "three hundred year" frog! The khukuri itself (Uncle Bill said it was 19oz)is so nicely balanced that it just floats in your hand like a natural extension of your arm! So what to do...I'm going to give him one of my M43's instead. But the WWII is staying with me. "I like it, I like it a lot!":D .

Just out of interest, how does one get a 'superfrog'?

Glad you like the WW2, I think that is the risk we all run, I know I fell in love with mine!

Been there. Ordered a chiruwa AK to give to my boss. When it got here, I wanted it for myself. VERY well done. Had to give it to him anyway. Somehow seemed right.

Is your Marine friend going to carry it combat? Might be a bit big for that. Sure to impress, though.

"Super frog" that's a good name for them! I've never seen one as think as this before. It may all depend on the leather the Sarkis get to make the sheaths from? Maybe I was just lucky?

Ahh, well what I meant was one of these:

Thats the super frog, mine is thick (it aint gonna break in a hurry) but that just looks beautiful!

Very nice light weight for a 16.5 WW2.

Pity I can no longer use blackmail, extortion, and kidnapping on behalf of the state or I'd be over to talk with you directly.

;) :D :D

I don't think he's planning on carring it (He favors the K-Bar). But wanted something for display. However he's big enough to be able to carry it if he were inclined to do so! :D

The Sirupati I got the other day has a frog that is super thick. The guy who did the work (the Sarki?) took up the slack in the frog by sewing another super thick piece of hide inside the frog to reinforce it and add thickness. I would have no qualms about trusting it with my weight, and pity the poor SOB who had to try to work with this stuff. The entire sheath and frog seem almost indestructible and the work is very finely done.

On the other hand, the Sher Kobra came with a frog about 1/3rd of that thickness and very loose, unless it slid up almost to the top of the sheath, and is much less finished overall. If I ever did want to carry it I would just remove the frog and stuff the sheath under my belt. It also is the only one that has the shinier / thinner leather Uncle Bill mentioned the other day.

Svashtar

Nice snag Mike. You should bring it down for show and tell some time soon. So we can compair it to my 16.5" WWII. ;)

As an addendum to the above message, I should also point out that the Kobra has a beautifully grained wood handle (the pix UB posted did not do it justice), and at $60 for an 18" 21 oz. Sher Kobra I'm not complaining! just comparing...

19oz for a 16.5" WWII does seem light...
If it makes you feel better, I'd probably keep it also. :D
Guess thats what makes it a little livlier
than your average WWII.

Nice snag. I'd prolly keep it too.

19oz tho? I thought 28oz was perfect. ;) :p

Hi Heber!
What's shaking? :D We should get together for show and tell. Maybe when it gets a little warmer. There's been some new additions to the "Blade Box". Looking forward to showing some off.;)

WarrenR,
I really like the way it handles. I haven't chopped anything with it yet but I'm looking forward to it as soon as it warms up some around here.

Brian,
I've got another WWII it's heavier. Maybe 28oz. I think I like the 19oz'er better.

Mike, is it ever going to get warm again? It's been a crazy winter here in Provo. Yesterday was the first day we saw the sun in weeks.

Yeah, we really should do something when it gets warm. I've added a couple of knives to my box too.:D

I forgot to mention, my 16.5" WWII is 24oz and I love it. It probably would have been heavier, but Bura added fullers on each side which was a nice touch.:)

24 oz? Munk won't be happy.

No biggie. Munk can borrow a couple of Rusty's quarters to tape onto it to bring the weight up.;)
