Thanks to Yangdu's DOTD, I got a slightly rusted CAK for a fair price. When I first got it, I cleaned it up and smoothed the handle out. Today, I spent all morning putting mean convex edge on it.

Time to see what this 27 oz Khuk can do!
One whack was all it took for this hard dry maple.

My new thinner edge is undamaged.

I tried it on some free standing woody brush, one swipe and three stalks went down.

This limber thing has to go!

Swish and gone!

Time for some palm frond trimming.

Very clean.

Some chopping and splitting up next.

This palmetto trunk is tough. One swipe with the Khuk and it is trimmed flush.

Then I tried to split some maple. The 7/16" thick blade acts like a splitting wedge.

Well, I am impressed. My second HI Khukuri, and I could not be more pleased. Soon I'll put it up against some other choppers.

It feels great. That flared bell at the pommel keeps it from flying out of my hand. First time I ever tried to convex a double-fullered blade, but it came out ok. I am beginning to be a HI junkie. :D

Good review.

I've been tempted to try to put on a convex edge, but I haven't taken the time to do so just yet. Good to see your Khuk held up to the mods you made.

The right edge on a Khukuri and a comfortable handle really help make them impresive choppers and wood splitters. Am glad you like yours. I'll say it again, Love the pictures. It's always nice to see a blade being used. Pictures of new knives are nice but seeing use in use and afterwards is even better to me.

Great job on that edge. I bet it makes a huge difference.

I'm sure it does, but honestly, I never even chopped with it before I did the edge. The profile just seemed too thick to me. You can't tell by looking, but I took a pile of steel off that edge. It was a bit tricky, all those curves and fullers and such. But once I got it going, I stayed with it until it was where I wanted it. Not perfect, but it sure cuts.

I'd like to see that comparison as well,I see the ang khola eclipsing the competition,

Welcome Buddha Shakya!

Thats a good review. You did good work on the handle too! Sweet!
