the blade looks good enough without patina. looks like stonewashed.

Very nice! I do actually like the way it looks with that coating residue vs sanding it all the way down.

question.. i like the finish that is already on the 16. how do i get rid of that tiny coatings that i would not remove? more paint stripper? or something else? really don't want to deal with kleen strip again. that thing burns pretty nasty even a little touch.

i was able to get rid of the large patch of the coating, but the ones in the jimping and cut outs in the tang would not come off. i don't want to brush with wire brush since that will change the finish on the blade.

I always use a window razor scraper to take the little bits off. I would brush on a thin coat of stripper and let it sit for ten minutes first to soften up the coating. Make sure you use a brand new blade and be careful or you can scratch the steel. Wear rubber gloves too.

You can use a phosphor bronze brush like you would with a gun, that will leave your finish alone, or you can try a brass brush as well, that should work. Otherwise, just careful scraping with something. Razor, needle, pointy knife tip.

well.. i use it this weekend, then will try kleen strip again and use brass brush on it to see how it comes out.

I ran into the same issue after using the stripping gel. Still had tiny spots of the coating stuck on the blade. Tried more stripper, and a brush, but it didn't affect the stuff at all. Ended up using my tinkering knife to scrape those portions off.
