I have an Uncle Henry 165 UH knife with the serial number 01663. I have had this knife for around 15 years. I did some reading on this forum and found that this model has been a very popular one. My grandfather purchased this knife used in a western Oklahoma pawn shop for me to use as a hunting knife. It has since gutted my first deer, bear, and antelelope. All of which he has been with me for. I know this knife is not an extremely rare or expensive knife but i am curious to know a little more about this model and if anyone can tell me approximatly when it was made. Thanks.

A lot of the info on the 165OT/UH is on the first two pages of that thread. I'm always glad to see someone else who owns and uses that pattern for it's intended purpose. It is, afterall, a well designed tool. They are not rare, as you know, but popularity is driving the prices, not true rarity. They have been discontinued for quite a while though. And as you might guess from the production years, the Uncle Henry version is quite a bit more scarce, particularly in mint condition. Most seen on eBay right now are like Phil's knife, without the shield or jigged hole for the shield. Likely these were held in factory stock for Ducks Unlimited and other special factory orders, usually with etches. This adds a bit of interest, and puts them outside the catagory of true 165UH production. Still, like all knives of this pattern, they make excellent users.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum, Jody. And in the off chance that you or anyone else did not see my favorite new sheath (for a 165UH), here it is!

That sheath is definately a winner! I still need to get that version of the 165UH for my collection too. I finally got a 165OTO at a reasonable price, thanks to Redshanks. Maybe I should talk to Sheathmaker about making one of those sheaths in .270 or .243. Hmmm..... with the loops angled just right and four rounds.....

that is a nice sheath. I believe that the sheath that i have is the original one. It has a pocket on the front with a stone in it.
