Something a little different...

Dad bought this at an auction a while back, and yes, it's authentic. We put it on the bathroom scale and it read 17.4 pounds. How would you like to work a log over with this sucker? Check out that "edge" geometry!

that would have to work off of some kind of frame. being swung repeatedly. it think it would just mash a hole through whatever you were trying to cut though..

Dad does have a smaller reproduction (fake) celt of similar pattern made from dark bluish black stone (granite?) that I've thought about hafting & using, just for the heck of it. Haven't done it though since it's his. I would imagine these would just bruise their way through wood so you can eventually crack it or just break it off. Though the edge on this one looks in proportion with the rest, it's really no "sharper" than your average smooth river rock. :)

I don't think so... We also have plenty of big hoes, and they're always made of flint, with plenty of evidence of being worn smooth on the bit.
