Well today finally turned out decent and I got too put the FF through what paces I could. I have lost even more stamina this winter it seems.:grumpy:
Anyway I was knocking the burr off the edge the other day after I had tested the hardness with my trusty file and somehow the fat part of the edge of my palm came into contact with the edge.
Just enough to draw a little blood, nothing serious, and I thought that would be it for a while.
No, that warn't the case....:grumpy:
Getting ready too take her outside and put her through her paces I proceeded too the Grizz in the workroom to convex and better sharpen the already sharp edge.
I put her on a slightly worn 120 grit belt and then the heavy buffing pad too polish the burr off as well as polish the edge to sharpeness.
After that I went too the dedicated grizz Buffer and went from Red Jeweler's Rouge to the Ultra Fine white compound.
I then grabbed a paper shop towel and started wiping the blade off, put the towel down and I lost sight of the point and the Sumbeetch Nailed Me! Not bad, just a little more and it would have taken a small bit off the pad off the side of my finger but I must've hit a small vein as it bleed like a stuck hog!!!!
Thought it never was gonna quit!!!!
I didn't appreciate it.
I had enough.
Hopefully that's all the blood she will need for a while.
:grumpy:
It's been a long while since I've had one this blood thirsty!!!!
I'm gonna have too watch her real close as it was just the point that nipped me.
Took her out back and started chopping on a well seasoned piece of firewood. This thing is a choppin Fool it is!!!!
She bites deep and will cut with a twisting motion at the end of the cut with no damage.
I gave her the Yvsa workout with the exception of putting her between something and prying but will do that another time when there's a couple of trees growing close together handy.
But I have no doubt she will pass that with flying colors too as I did beat the living Shit outa her!!!!
There was Absolutely No Damage too her edge! None, Nada, Nuttin!!!! Just as razor sharp when I got done as when I started!!!!
I've just absolutely got too etch this one! From the file test the hardness goes all the way too the point although one never knows how deep until it is etched.
Proves my point that the edges can be super hard as long as they're fat enough and have enough material behind the edge not too break!
Wish I could've done more but I'm more than delighted with the results!
