i just picked up a great 18" Malla by Kumar--a excellent rig in all aspects--excellent horn handle-finish--feels great in the hand
here's my question i don't see hardly any difference in the 18" Malla from the 17" Sirupati--could some of the experts here explain the differences in the two--seems almost like the same knife to me  :)

I think the Mala has a wider belly and possibly more drop at the shoulder.. Not sure exactly, never actually had one.. Some one with both Khukuris should be along shortly to help you out.

It has long been true that samples from the Malla, Sirup, Chit, and Gelbu can be nearly identical, depending upon the individual specimen held in hand. The cho's wont be.

The Malla's have a flat spine, and that alone gives it a different and unique balance. No brass accents on the Sword of Shiva like the Sirus. Also has the most unique cho of all khuks I think. The vast majority of Malla's I've seen were made by Kumar, who really knows what he is doing, and he usually sharpens them nicely as well.

yea you're right on the Cho's both are very curved like the blade of a AK--this malla is a really nice addition to my slowly growing collection--have 12 HI's so far--and so many more i want and NEED--lol  :)
