17 Year old knife maker

We ran across this kid through facebook. Was later amazed to learn he is forging knives and hawks like this at only age 17. Anyone else know of people so young making knives like this. I am sure they are out there, just never seen it!

Thats the youngest that come to mind anyways looks like your 17yr old friend is off to a good start

I know myself (18 yrs old), but it is just a small hobby and I have a lot of work to do to get quality fixed blades. I think some of these makers you guys are throwing out are on a totally different level.

Young folks these days are smarter than ever. No one gets instant wisdom overnight. You gotta give them a chance to grow. I wouldn't disparage the youth at all. Someone said the same thing about myself I'm sure, I'm 38, and I'm sure some of you older guys as well when it was your time.

I have seen you post your work here a few times and never would have guessed you were that young. Very nice work and looks like you have a promising path ahead.

As far as unreal quality for age, my vote goes to Kyle Royer. He is still in his early 20s, 22 or 24 I believe, and has been an ABS master smith since June 2011. His work is absolutely stunning in design, materials and fit and finish.
