Hey all,

Ive had my eyes on a Spyderco Techno for a few months now. Been saving up cash, which doesn't come quickly being a college student. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger but thought I could maybe get some suggestions for alternatives here on my favorite forum.

-Medium to small in size. Easy to carry.
-Stout. Tough enough for most occasions. Good build quality.
-Will be used to cut plastics, open packages, whittle wood, etc...you guys know the drill..
"Fancy" build material (handle, blade steel) Something different than G10 and S30v.
-Im partial to Spyderco. Will be swinging by the Golden factory next week on a family vacation. I want to buy the knife there (I guess just to say I did) but I found Techno's online for ~$150. Probably wont match that price at the Factory store.

Can anyone beat the Techno?

Thanks guys.

I would say just get the Techno you seem to like it.

I think I love it. And I think I will get it. I just like when I know I'm making the right decision and it gives me piece of mind when more knowledgable people agree with my decision. I like to make sure I'm not overlooking something else.

What about a bradley alias? Not spyderco obviously but they seem to be popular (i dont have one though)

The closest thing i can come up with is benchmades MPR but it has g10 i have seen several people put custom scales on but that could run you alot more so i would say go with the spydie seems like the best choice for the price

Thanks for the suggestion. Had to look that one up! Not a bad suggestion at all, very close to what im looking for. And, Im ok with G10, just looking for something a I dont already have. The Spydie with the titanium framelock and CTS steel meets that preference pretty good!

Alright the Techno it is. Thanks for the help, just didnt want to overlook a knife and regret my decision. We all know the unpleasant feeling of buyer's remorse...ugh. But, I think i will be more than pleased with the techno.

Heres the BM MPR for anyone else.

Have you checked out the Boker Albatros? The first run of them had some problems, but I recently picked one up on the exchange and I'm loving it. Once you reprofile the edge it slices with ease. I got it for $80 new, and they go for just a little more other places.
