172 Mayo TNT gone or on hiatus?

Gads - the 172 Mayo TNT isn't on the Buck site... didn't check the 171. Santa, er, Mrs. Santa got me one for Christmas. Yeah, the 172 really is that nice. I wonder if it's 'on hold' - just after that CF variant, too. Gads, the 347 Vantage Pro went up $20 MSRP - now $95 - still a bargain. Changes everywhere at Buck?? Testing the waters for the 2010 catalog?

Gone from the looks of it. It's not in the 2010 catalog nor the 2010 price list.

by comparison, the Folding Alpha 154CM and Alpha Dorado 154CM's are gone from the 2010 catalog, but still listed in the 2010 price list.

Yikes! Glad you mentioned that. I just went and ordered a couple more while I could still get them for $50 each delivered.

I thought the jury was still out for you on this one. Have you made up your mind to love it or are you just bargain shopping for future reference?

A little of both I guess. I do like the Vantage (after actually handling one) and so does the Buddy that I gave one to. It won't be an EDC for me though, none of the "bigger" ones are. I nearly always carry the smooth buff handled 701 in my pocket, but rarely anything on my belt or clipped in a pocket. I just don't do anything anymore that I can't handle with the pocket knife.

I just decided to pick up a couple more before the price increase hit the market. They will make nice gifts. :thumbup:

They really are nice. I have #005 and #075 of 250. If they are LE's as the numbering suggests, they may have just finally sold out. The 171 Waimea it cool too, and is small enough for me to carry in my pocket. I just wish it had the same shape blade as the 172, not from any practical reason, I just like the look better.

OOPs, I just realised that we may be talking about two different 172's. Mine are both the CF models.

I do like the 703 also, it's just a smaller version but I favor the 701 for a couple of reasons. The 701 is larger and also was a special gift.:thumbup:
