I recently purchased what I believed to be a new in the box 172uh "Bear skinner" The box was from the seventies but when I got the knife it had Schrade USA over 172UH. I guess I was assuming the knife would have Walden on the Tang. I have another 172Uh that does have walden on the tang. Were all the 70's model 172UH bear skinners Walden knives? Or, did somebody pawn off a 172UH "wildcat" for a older 70's model. Please help clear up this for it is driving me insaine....... Thanks so much... new to the site but a fellow Schrade Lover....

The Walden name was dropped in 1973 and most of the knives from then on were marked Schrade.

The 172UH had 2 runs whit the first dates of production runs from 1971 to 1973
Second dates of production runs from 1990 to 1992
The 1st were Schrade Walden with the second being Uncle Henry
