??????

No NSN's yet. It is something we have considered off and on. Most likely the Auto Triton will be our first knife with an NSN.

OK, dumb question. What's an NSN? I'm assuming that the "SN" means Serial Number, but what's the first "N" for? Naval? National? Nugat? :D

All government equipment has a National Stock Number. The NSN is made up of the four digit FSC (Federal Stock Class)and a nine digit National Item Identification Number(NIIN). This number is used to label and catagorize each item that is stocked.

First all items are categorized into a class then have seven digits that distinguish the item from all others.

Format: FSC-NATO CODE = NSN

Example: NSN 1095-01-456-4457
Stock class 1095 is Miscellaneous Weapons of which knives fall under.
NIIN is 01-456-4457. NAME: Knife,Combat, (Automatic) is the Benchmade Stryker automatic folding knive Model 9100SBT.

An index of these codes and an item name index (which tell the location of the descriptive data) can be found in the Defense Logistics Agencys Identification List (IL) which is catagorized by the four digit FSC.

Huh? i guess i was mentioned here, but i have NO idea why?
I did have a few beers last night but i'm quite sure i didn't change indentity, or?

All in jest ;)
