How many are not enough? Well, I can say I only have one of these. Making the rounds of buyers and sellers, it looks like I'll be the adoptive collector for awhile.

The hilt is steel and I believe it was probably browned at the start. Suited for a British nco or junior officer's private purchase but we'll likely never know for sure. The peen smushed at some point to tighten once the washer seating the blade had rotted off.

There is a stamp on the ricasso, with a crown over TG. The thinking here is Thomas Gill II, some time before 1783, as his marks after that are pretty clearly his.

I had finally come close to fulfilling another quest and thought I was done but this one came along and caught my attention. Bartered for what my offer was. I keep insisting I am done. Other things in life draw my attentions.
Cheers
