18" Ak arrives--love at first sight!

My 18" Ak arrived today---it is by far the finest khukuri I own (well, fighting with my 12" sirupati). The workmanship on the handle and blade are beautiful, balance and weight are as if tailor made for me. The fullering (right term?) is very well done also. Have yet to chop anything but I can tell how that will go already. Applause for the kami who made this are in order!! The symbol is a halfmoon shape with hatch marks over it. Anyone know who that is? thanks Uncle Bill!

That mark is Kesar's. He is an older, very experienced kami and does excellent work about 90% of the time. 10% he seems to lose concentration. He has a farm and I think he worries about crops and animals. And, the farm takes him away from BirGorkha on a fairly regular basis so we really cannot classify him as a full timer.

But, you got one of his 90% efforts so it should last at least 5 lifetimes.
