Uncle Bill, any chance of putting together another order for 18" Salyans? I would like to get one, and maybe a few other folks might be interested.

Since there may be some newcomers who aren't familiar with that particular style khukuri, is there somewhere a person could go to find a picture? I did a forum search and found none. Thanks

Will this batch turn out similar to the previous batch. I would be really interested if I could get one in the 3-4 lb catagory. Preferably greater than 3.5 lb.

Has anyone encounted binding problems with the 18" Salyan model? The blade profile and weight indicate that this might be a problem. This looks like it should be called a "felling khukuri".

You're right, Mike. The Salyans are not to be taken lightly. The ownership of such a knife constitutes an enormous responsibility, and is certainly one which has weighed heavily on my mind.

Well, that's exactly why I was thinkin' about gettin' one, Uncle Bill -- I thought it would be kinda neat to have my khuk and my wife match!

It'd be great if you could have the kamis make a replica of the one on your webpage, Uncle, especially if you could get that extra-thick buttcap on it.

I think that a 22" AK pretty much takes care of all needs for an extra-heavy knife.

Actually, the blade of the very first khuk pictured on the HI web site -- (the one right above the "Welcome to our Web site") -- is more like what I was thinking of when I first asked about Salyans. I was wanting something a bit wider than the more conventional khuks.

Put me down for a Super Salyan. If it is around 18" I will like it around 3.25 lb. I think 4 lb might be nice but it may turn out excessive. If the blade turns out around 20", 4 lb would be great.

Well, Will, it appears that the Salyans just ain't gonna happen. You and I are the only ones who have expressed an interest, and I think Uncle Bill needs an order of at least five to justify placing a special order -- and though I'd kinda like to have one, I darn sure don't like'em enough to order four. And since I reckon you don't either, I guess we're gonna have to call it quits on the Salyans. But I think it's kinda like when a woman breaks your heart -- the best cure is to find another one as soon as possible.
Ya know, it's truly terrible the anguish we HIKV sufferers have to endure. I think I'm gonna write a country and western song about it.

Steve,

The upcoming "Mellenium" is a pretty hefty khuk. You may want to consider that. (Just trying to tweak your "illness...")

Hmmm... Maybe it was the Ganga Ram Special I was thinking about. Better get both!

I guess you're right, sing. And since I already have a "Mellenium" on order, I guess I'll have to start lusting after a Ganga Ram Special.

Ya know, just this very minute, I got to thinkin' -- do you reckon the "Mellenium" khuks are gonna be Y2K compliant? It'd be terrible to spend all that money to get one, then have it start actin' weird come January 1. 'Course I guess that's where the famous HI guarantee comes in. Somethin' to think about.
