Hello everyone! I drive an 18-wheeler and I will be going by Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Sevierville,TN on Saturday. I was wondering if anyone know if there was room to park a big rig there. I realize if the answer is yes that it could be hazardous to my wallet, but that's a chance I'm willing to take!! :D
Thanks for your help.

I would say yes. There are a lot of parking lots there at the store and nearby. They would not likely kick you out. Be aware that it gets very crowded in SMKW on the weekend. Also, their store prices tend to be higher than their online prices and not everything is available in the store that you see online. On the positive side, you get to see their substantial knife collection and also their wildlife trophy collection. Have fun!

Thanks for the info Drifter! My rig totals about 70 feet in length so it takes a little room to get around. Just don't wanna get stuck somewhere. :D

Holy crap!! I'm salivating at the possibilities!! More knives than I can afford that's for darn sure!! :D

Personnaly i always wanted to try to park there but was either closed at night or just didnt feel like risking it. I nearly got myself into trouble several times taking a 70 foot big rig into places where it didnt belong including many Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. Remember dont affraid to run over the landscape and squish some four wheelers on the way out ;)

Hell, we had a guy that pulled into a place to turn around late one night cuz he was lost. Well, he had to run over a little grass to do it and they caught him on video!! Truck number, company name, everything they needed. Guess who ended up having to pay to fix the grass?? LOL

All the Cabela's I've been to have designated truck parking areas which is great and a smart business decision on their part cuz we spend money too!! :D

I really hope you enjoy it Jason. Calling ahead might be a smart plan but it seems there is enough room to me.

Good luck on getting back on the highway heading to Interstate 40 (if that is were your heading). It takes me forever to get across in my S-10.

ack! yep, i'd be getting back on I-40 to head for Windsor,VA

Having been to SMKW, I wasn't all that impressed. I would look at a map and see if Windsor VA is close to Bluefield VA. If so, I'd run up to New Graham Knives. They do an incredible internet business but they are located in the local drug store so they obviously exist as a "brick and mortar" knife retailer as well. They have the most personable people on earth working there.

Either way, have a safe trip.

Unfortunately, I won't be near Bluefield. Bluefield is kinda in the boonies too. I've purchased fron NGK online and it went very smoothly. :D

There's a lot of parking space but I can't guarantee there's enough room to maneuver a big rig around. Definitely worth stopping in - it's one big knife store.

You may have some trouble making the U-turn to head back north on Hwy 66. If worst comes to worst, you can always go down to Sevierville and head east on US411 over to I-40 (just south of the I-81/I-40 split). You can stop at Bass Pro which is at the same exit off I-40. I just stopped there is evening. Been dying to go, just didn't want to make a special trip.

I wish there were a couple 18 wheelers delivering knives to SMKW's. They're out of so many products on their website.

Well, I made to Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Parked on the street that runs behind the building. Eeeehhhh......it was ok I guess. Damn sure could get lost in the place. Picked up a Spyderco D'Allara Drop Point while I was there.

Hey Rimfire, I did what you suggested and went down and got on the 411 back to I-40. Not bad for the first half, but the last half of the 411 before the 40 was a narrow, curvy sonofagun!! Absolutely beautiful country though. I could definitely see myself living around there.

That Spyderco D'Allara a a nice piece of work. Does anybody know if the slider opening mechanism works in a fashion like the Axis lock?

I never really thought much of Spyderco designs, But I must say, That's a nice knife :) looks sharp too.

I have never actually driven between Sevierville and I-40 (below I-81/I-40 split). I have gone the other way toward Knoxville. I knew it was 4-lane near the interstate, but didn't know about the stretch between Sevierville and there.

It is really beautiful country. I think it is pretty much heaven on earth. I used to live in Texas (Dallas and Houston) and have been all over that state. Probably have driven just about every country road East of I-35...bit of an exaggeration, but close.

I always end up buying kitchen type knives there. They have a great selection of everyday stuff at modest prices (sort of). My last trip, I bought a Remington bullet knife. They usually have a fairly large selection of the various years. You're right about the place, you can sort of OD on knives there. Lots of cheap stuff, but lots of good stuff too. They have a big tourist business.
