I am in a quantry I have a Buck 184 I purchased new 20 plus years ago or there abouts. I hand engraved my name and drivers license on the sheath and blade. Now I want to sell it what can I do? I know I can just sand it off is that the solution and let the cards fall where they may?

RedRockNv, I recently sent my 184 up to Buck and they re-blasted it and sharpened it and sent it back looking like new. It didn't have any major scratches or engraving on it though. How deep is the engraving on the blade, how did you do it? An option might be to talk with Joe Houser at Buck and ask if they can sand out the engraving and then re-blast it for you. Don't know what they might charge you. I paid $15 for the work they did on mine.

The engraving on the blade isn't very deep mostly in the bead blasting. The sheath is deeper. I just don't want to sell it with my info on it. Hate for the cops to find it stuck in somebodies back and it has my name and DL #.

I think Buck could remove it from the blade.

Not sure what to do about the sheath, maybe destroy that one and buy a new one if possible, or just keep it and sell the knife alone.

Will knock the price done quite a bit for a NIB knife. However, if it's going to bother you may be the best path to take. Your piece of mind is worth more than a hundred bucks.
