Here is a cut off sword dated 1861. It looks like examples I have found of the Knights of the Globe organization. However, research shows the Knights of the Globe as not being formed until 1889 and this blade is dated 1861. Any ideas on what this is? Thanks.

This is a composite build and the blade not belonging to the hilt. The current "bible" for fraternal swords does not show this hilt but the description does mention it in the Ames catalog (which I do not have).

The blade may have been ground down from a sword of the 1860s but I am not sure what that may have been originally. Possibly a bayonet blade as well. Someone in the Bernard Levine section might recognize the scabbard/sheath.

Cheers
